The simplest way to install the NeoOffice Mobile app on your iPhone is to open the App Store app on your iPhone. You can usually open the App Store app icon by pressing the Home button (the button with a rounded square painted on it) and then tapping on the App Store icon at the bottom of the screen.
After tapping the App Store icon and the App Store app appears, tap on the Search icon at the bottom of the screen, enter in "neooffice mobile" in the text field at the top of the screen, and then tap on the "NeoOffice Mobile" entry that will appear in the search results.
Once you tap through to the NeoOffice Mobile apps full description page appears, press the "Free" button near the top of the screen. That button should then become a "INSTALL" button. Press that button to install.
Are you able to install the NeoOffice Mobile app using the above steps?

Yes, thank you Patrick. N-O Mobile now resides on my iPhone, but a Sync did not copy the files open in N-O on my MacBook.
So I gather that wise practice for me will have to be to keep few and not too lengthy files (I work with words, not pics or film) on the iPhone, and those moved there individually?

I think you may misunderstand how NeoOffice Mobile works. NeoOffice Mobile does not read any documents on your iPhone nor does it do any synching from your desktop.
Instead, NeoOffice Mobile is essentially a "cloud storage" application that retrieves documents that you have previously saved to our NeoOffice Mobile account on the NeoOffice servers. During saving, our code also saves your document in document formats such as PDF and HTML that are readable on a variety of phones and small devices. Once a document is on our servers, you can then use the NeoOffice Mobile iPhone app (or a similar app on an Android phone) to view a PDF version of the files.
At this time, you can only save documents to your NeoOffice Mobile account from within NeoOffice on your Mac. We hope to add the ability to save documents from within other desktop office suites like OpenOffice or maybe Microsoft Office in the future, but for now to save a document to your NeoOffice Mobile account you need to do the following steps:
1. Open a file in NeoOffice on your Mac
2. Open NeoOffice Mobile by selecting the Mobile :: Open NeoOffice Mobile menu in NeoOffice and in the floating window that appears, log into your NeoOffice Mobile account
3. Save the active NeoOffice document to your account by pressing the Save button in the NeoOffice Mobile floating window
Hope that gives you an overview of what NeoOffice Mobile can and cannot do.
