|
NeoOffice Secure edition crashed for me while in the background. I had just asked it to print a document, and then moved to another app. NeoSE crashed shortly thereafter. The document did not print.
I'm reasonably sure that I clicked on the "restart" button in the crash warning dialog, but NeoSE did not restart then. I was able to start it up from the dock without incident, and the document in question printed properly when I asked it to print this time.
NeoSE had been open for at least 12 hours, with the document in question up, prior to the crash.

Your crash log doesn't show any cause for the crash. As best I can tell, the crash is occurring in Mac OS X's print functions so I am not sure if this is our bug or a bug in your printer's driver software.
Can you reproduce this crash? If so, does it only happen in NeoOffice Secure Edition or regular NeoOffice too?

Can't reproduce it, at least not right now. If it happens again, I'll try to track down what's happening. |

One more question: if you open the /Applications/Utilities/Console application, are there any messages within a minute before and after the crash (the time of the crash was 10:57 per your crash log)? If so, can you post them?

FYI. I just experienced the same crash as you reported after displaying the Printer Settings dialog. I don't know the cause yet as it occurs very infrequently but since I experienced it in both NeoOffice 3.3 and the latest NeoOffice 2013 Beta test patch, I suspect that is some thread collisions occurring while the native Printer Settings and Print dialogs are displayed.
I will investigate this crashing bug further and I will post when I have some news to report.

I think that I have fixed this bug. I found a bug in the OpenOffice.org code that causes a crash when you select the File :: Printer Settings menu in Writer, press the OK button in the native page layout dialog, and then press the Cancel button in the OOo Printer Settings dialog. Since displaying the native print dialog in a Writer document goes through the same OOo code, I think that my fix should hopefully also fix the bug that you found.
Can you install the following test patch and tell us if the crashing bug is fixed for you?:
NeoOffice 3.3:

NeoOffice 2013 Beta:

FYI. The fix for this bug is in NeoOffice 2013 Beta 2. To download NeoOffice 2013 Beta 2, use the download link in this NeoWiki article.
Please note that the NeoOffice 2013 Beta 2 installer should find and update your existing NeoOffice 2013 Beta installation. If you don't have NeoOffice 2013 Beta already installed, it will install in /Applications/NeoOffice.app and overwrite any regular NeoOffice installation there if you have not renamed it. So, if you have NeoOffice 3.3 installed, we recommend that you rename it before installing NeoOffice 2013 Beta 2.
NeoOffice Secure Edition testers: NeoOffice 2013 Beta 2 is incompatible with NeoOffice Secure Edition so if you have one of the NeoOffice Secure Edition versions installed, we recommend that you delete your NeoOffice Secure Edition user preference files by executing the following command in a Terminal window before installing NeoOffice 2013 Beta 2:
Quote: | rm -Rf ~/Library/Containers/org.neooffice.NeoOfficeSecureEdition/Data/Library/Preferences/NeoOfficeSecureEdition |
Edit by pluby: added special steps for NeoOffice Secure Edition testers.

FYI. I have included the fix for the crashing bug that I found in NeoOffice 3.3 Patch 8. The patch can be downloaded from the NeoOffice patch download page.
