|
I would like to install OOo_SRC680_m87.
I have installed m83 and m84.
What do I do about them?
I think I should remove them.
If so, how do I do it (step by step for a non UNIX person whos can use Terminal to a limited degree)? _________________ Sláinte!

Where are you getting the OOO builds? I got mine from:
http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/SRC680_m87/Build-2/
if you use these, it may not matter, m84 installs itself to the invisible folder (directory in Unix speak) /opt/openoffice.org1.9.84 whereas 1.9m87 seems to install directly into Applications.
But I'm not a Unix expert either so if you prefer to play it safe, I suggest:
in Terminal type:
sudo rm -R /opt/openoffice.org1.9.84
(this will aask for your admin. password, if you are the only user of your Mac, this is the same as your password)
Caution: This will utterly wipe out m84, though your documents should be safe if you saved them elsewhere. |

A more Mac-friendly way is to do cmd-shift-G, which opens a "go to folder" sheet. Enter /opt as the destination, and /opt will open. Then drag the OOo folder to the trash--it'll ask for your admin password to do so.
I have no idea where the user files are being stored, though. I've only downloaded one build, played around enough to see all the Mac-specific patches/fixes were missing, and went back to work in Neo/J....

Smokey and Lubo your tips worked.
The user files are in the invisible directory .openoffice.org1.9.87 _________________ Sláinte!

Ah, I remember seeing that now the last time I did ls -al in my home directory That's another "bug" that needs to be fixed (the official builds used ~/Library/Preferences/<OOoVersion> and the Tech Previews/Localized Builds used ~/Library/Application Support/<OOoVersion>)....
