There is only "Portugues" in System Prefs and it's "Portugues do Brasil". Portugues is my default language.

I don't understand. I have 1.1 installed too. This version loads all interface in portuguese, but 1.2 does not.

Any idea?

I do not know why NeoOffice/J 1.1 works but it may have something to do with the fact that NeoOffice/J 1.1 uses Java 1.3.1 and NeoOffice 1.2 uses Java 1.4.x.

Anyway, I think that something is corrupted in your system preferences since you are only getting the "pt" locale when you execute the defaults command. If everything was OK, you should see "pt_BR" when you run that command.

You can forcing Mac OS X to clean up your system preferences by changing the order of the languages in the System Preferences application, quitting and relaunching the System Preferences application, and changing the order of languages back again.

Then, rerun the defaults command in my previous post and see if "pt_BR" shows up in the list.

Ok, I did it: (pt, en, es)

All of my apps like Safari, Mail, Text Edit etc are running in portuguese. There is no other portuguese language in X than Brazilian Portuguese.

Huh? That is not correct. Mac OS X has 3 Portuguese locales: Português, Português do Portugal, and Portugûes do Brasil. Because you are only seeing one of the 3, that tells me that you didn't follow all of my original instructions. Follow each and every one of the following steps:

1. Open the Systems Preferences application.
2. Click on the Internacional icon
3. Click on the Idioma tab
4. Press the Editar button on that tab
5. In the dialog that appears, scroll past the checkmarked languages and way down the list you will find the other 2 Portuguese languages. Checkmark the "Português do Brasil" entry.
6. Press the OK button
7. Move the newly added "Português do Brasil" entry to the top of language list.
