Empty Menu Bar, has only Apple and NeoOffice menu. Apple menu opens, but NeoOffice menu just highlights but don't open. Text document, and SpreadSheet files opens normally but no Menu items, i.e File, Edit, View etc...

I Installed NeoOffice few times, verify disk permissions with Cocktail.

Neooffice 3.0.1 OS 10.6.1 MacBook

Yes I did installed NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access Patch 1 and all the menus are not displayed.

Can you open the /Applications/Utilities/Terminal application, paste the following commands in the Terminal application window, press the Return key, and paste the output into this forum topic?:

ls -l ~/Library/InputManagers
ls -l ~/Library/Application\ Support
ls -l /Library/InputManagers
ls -l /Library/Application\ Support

This will show us if there are any system hacks on the machine which could affect NeoOffice.

Thank you for providing the output. I noticed in the output that you have the following four system hacks installed on your machine. System hacks inject their code into all running applications and we have found that bugs in some system hacks can cause applications like NeoOffice to hang, crash or otherwise behave incorrectly in unexpected places in the code:

~/Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports
/Library/InputManagers/Menu Extra Enabler
/Library/InputManagers/1PasswdIM
/Library/InputManagers/GearsEnabler

To disable these system hacks, move the above folders to your Desktop and reboot. You can find the first folder going to your Home folder in the Finder and navigating down through the Library and InputManagers folders. You can find the next 3 folders by double-clicking on the main volume icon on your desktop and, in the Finder window that appears, navigating down through the Library and InputManagers subfolders.

After moving the four folders and rebooting, are are all the NeoOffice menus displayed?

You may want try disabling only this system hack and rebooting before you disable the others. Menu Extra Enabler is known to interfere with the Apple Java code that we use to create NeoOffice's menus.

I moved the folders to Desktop and reboot, but no change, it is exactly the same, no Menus.

This is very unexpected behavior. If you moved the system hacks and rebooted, then something very unusual is happening. So, we are going to need you ask you more questions in order to try to see if your system is leaving any clues as to the cause of this problem.

Can you do the following?:

1. Open the /Applications/Utilities/Terminal application again, paste the following command in the Terminal application window, press the Return key, and paste the output into this forum topic? This will tell us if Snow Leopard is retaining a copy of any of the system hacks that you removed (it is possible that Snow Leopard's Finder behaves different than earlier Mac OS X versions):

ls -l /Library/InputManagers

2. Quit NeoOffice, launch the /Applications/Utilities/Console application and then restart NeoOffice. Do any messages get added in the Console application window? If so, can you paste the new messages in this forum topic?

Your Console output indicates that Apple's Java is corrupted and cannot load one of its own internal files.

Since Java is installed as a part of Mac OS X, it is likely that one or more of the following has happened:

- The Snow Leopard installer failed to install all of Apple's Java files
- One or more of Apple's Java files have the incorrect permissions
- A Java extension was installed that does not work with Apple's Java on Snow Leopard

The last on is the easiest one to check. Can you open the /Applications/Utilities/Terminal application again, paste the following command in the Terminal application window, press the Return key, and paste the output into this forum topic?

ls -l /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/lib/ext

I will then compare the output to the same on my Snow Leopard machine.

Your output indicates that you do not have any Java extensions.

Before I have you investigate the other two causes, can you try the following steps? I noticed that the dates in your Terminal output are in a non-Western European language so that may be causing the problem:

1. Quit NeoOffice

2. Open the System Preferences application, click on the International icon, click on the Languages tab, and drag English to the top of the list.

3. Start NeoOffice

Do the menus work after doing this? If so, can you tell us which language was at the top of the list in the Languages tab before you set English to the top?

Same problem with Menus. The top Language was Hebrew and now it's English but it didn't help

OK. Then I think the most likely cause is that some of Apple's Java files are missing or they have the wrong permissions.

To check this theory, can you open the /Applications/Utilities/Terminal application again, paste the following command in the Terminal application window, and press the Return key. Sorry the command is so small, but it is a long command and it needs to be squeezed all onto one line.

Please not that with the following command, there should be no output. Instead, this command should create a new file called "javafilelist.txt" on your Desktop. If you can attach that file using the steps in this post, I will look compare it to the same output on my machine:

find /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0 -ls > ~/Desktop/javafilelist.txt

It is getting late where so don't be surprised if I don't reply until tomorrow morning U.S. Pacific time.
