The new OpenDocument file formats, the defaults in OOo 2.0, will probably quickly become very common here in my office. (Mostly Windows, several Macs.) My biggest concern is being able to work with these formats on a Mac. I have heard that OOo is planning to build that capability into a minor update of OOo 1.1.x, is this true? Is it something that can be brought into Neo/J?
According to Pavel JanÃk, the ODF (is that the shorthand?) support will be reverse-grafted onto the 1.1 codebase in 1.1.5, presumably released about the same time as 2.0 on the Sun-built platforms.
We discussed that specific issue in this thread, but general talk about future release plans are in other threads in the Neo/J Development forum (a better place to continue this discussion, unless Ed were to move this thread there).
But, FWIW, from the way I currently read the plans, I think it's likely we'll see a Neo/J based off of 1.1.5 at some point (or, if the support for ODF is modularized enough, perhaps just the ODF support delivered via a patch)...but in the end it will depend on when Sun releases a build of the 1.1 codebase with the ODF support and where Neo/J is in its development/release cycle.....

That sounds very good to me. Thanks for posting the links to the threads I had not found. And I hope all developers, testers and other helpers know how much we appreciate your labors.
