|
All:
After spending a great deal of time, I finally built Neo/J 1.1rc with the 1.1.5rc code on Tiger.
I will return this code to Patrick and Ed so that they can test/build/fix what I broke.
This was and is a great accomplishment that would not have been finished without the assistance of many folks. I would like to extend my thanks to:
Patrick, for starting this project a long time ago.
Ed, for helping me through the patch process.
Maho Nakata, who has been working on patches for OOo 2.0 for both
FreeBSD and MacOSX 10.3 and 10.4
and the others who constantly visit these forums,
and lastly, my wonderful SO, who has put up with my mumblings and carrying the old PBG4 just about everywhere (she put a limit on bringing it to museums and to Tombstone (if you don't know where it is, google Helldorado Days).)
And I don't have an idea what Patrick originally went through when he started this project, but I have a good idea.

Congratulations. I am sure everyone here appreciates your hard work. I am not a MAC user so I have a difficult time helping you, but I can offer congratulations and information.
In case you didn't know they released an RC2 so you might want to check that out. _________________ Adam Moore

Thanks. I would like to know how to retrieve it. I managed to get RC1 as SRX645_m57, did the version name stay the same?

Congrats, James! Your are truly part of an elite group! Outside of Ed and Patrick, I believe only less than a handful of people have ever gotten Neo/J to build--and even then only on OSes currently known to build!
Alf mabruk wa alf shukr! [1000 congratulations and 1000 thanks!]

I humbly applaud your skill! Good show!
I hope you are now well on your way to actually improving the NeoOffice code. And don't forget to reward your SO for her patience .
Best wishes,

Oscar:
The SO gets her reward after finishing her final exam in Calculus this weekend.
As far as working on the code, I'll leave that to Patrick and Ed. However, getting OOo up to Java 1.4 is something that I would like to assist in, that way we can leave an unsupported Java version behind. I really would like to get it to 1.5, but there are supported operating systems in the OOo realm that are not there yet.
Smokey:
Thank you. I'm glad to be part of a small crowd. It took some effort and I'm working on getting the latest Neo/J release to build (Release plus patch 0), as a further project.

Yikes, she'll need that .

Sounds good. Should be enough to do for you there .

Yes, Apple not showing their best behaviour on this.. _________________ "What do you think of Western Civilization?"

Indeed! (fumbles around hiding from memories of calculus....) We do appreciate her sharing you with us during such trying times

http://weblogs.java.net/blog/invalidname/archive/2005/07/apples_javaone.html
Had Apple backported 1.5 to 10.3.9, they could have EOLed 1.3.1 and left themselves with one less JVM to support.
There is something to be said for looking forward, and Apple is an innovator, but it would also be nice if Apple would publish a formal software support/obsolescence policy (and then stick with it; Apple seems to have a hard time sticking to policies and guidelines it sets...) for the OS and major components like other major operating system vendors.

I'm not a programmer, but I'll ask the list to see what's the best way to get it. _________________ Adam Moore

The only fix for rc2 is i51836/i51913 "setup -net problem". |
Thanks for that information. I'm wondering when sequence is going to change from SRX645_m?? to OO_1_1_5rc?

Thank you for the kind words, Guest. I found out after the fact, that the build is indeed the 1.1 release with the 1.1.5rc code. This is built on Tiger 10.4.1 and I will be upgrading to 10.4.2 and possibly XCode 2.1 this weekend if I can get near a high speed connection (it takes several days to get the 768MB that makes up XCode 2.1, unless someone wants to make it available to me
In any case, the next task is to get Neo/J to Java 1.4.2.

Curiosity: is still there this bug in neo 1.1.5?
1- I create a table called SAMPLE in database dbase (or other)
2- I put (for example) a field called DATE in date format
3- I open a calc new document
4- I write a date in a cell, for example 20/5/05
5- In the cell above i write DATE
6- I drag and drop the DATE cell and the 20/5/05 over the table icon in data source
7- In the window that appears I select to attach the datas to the SAMPLE table
8- In the next window I "connect" DATE cell to DATE field
9- the bug: the calc 20/5/05 is now in database as 22/5/05
This is a openoffice bug, all the date get 2 days in copy/paste, if the Calc file uses the standard date format instead the 'starcalc' format. I read something about a stariffice 7 patch, so I'd like to know if Oo has still have the bug.
If you find the time to test this, thank you, else do not worry!

I will check on this with the OOo 1.1.5 rc code and if necessary open a Issue with the OOo project.
