Automatic formatting of CSV files

I'm trying to open a tab separated (*.csv) file but find some values are converted to a date when they are supposed to be text.

The preview shows the numbers correctly, but the translation to date format occurs when the file is opened.

Is there any way to prevent this happening, or can I change it back to the original text? It goes to the numeric value of the date if I change it to text using the 'format cells' option. Happy to explain this further if needed

In the Text Import dialog that opens, select the column whose values are converted to a date by clicking on the header, then in the Column type drop-down menu select Text and click OK.
