I found this story on news.com (via Anandtech).
I hope these people can do a bit of code tidying . _________________ "What do you think of Western Civilization?"

Given that the OOo development director at Google used to be the OOo development director at Sun and, when he was at Sun, he was the development manager for Sun's StarPortal project, I may be wildly off the mark but I would guess that Google is going to hire people to resurrect a web-based OOo version.

While I admire your optimism, I think it is quite a stretch to take Google's announcement that they will help OOo to mean that they are going to hire programmers to work specifically on Neo/J. I fail to see how this benefits Google.
Also, although I cannot disclose the details, suffice it to say that Google was not interested in providing much help to Neo/J.
My point is that after working on Neo/J for 3 years and making lots of cold-call fundraising contacts with senior managers at several large Silicon Valley companies, I do not believe that Neo/J will be "saved" by some generous company. Instead, I believe that Neo/J will only continue to exist if volunteers keep donating small amounts of time and money.

Hmm. Cold call doesn't work unless you are charming enough to be a serious politician. Isn't there anyone in our user base who can talk to their executives? A foot in the door works so much better!
Anyone care to volunteer to talk to their bosses? _________________ "What do you think of Western Civilization?"
