Hi,
I'm wondering if there's a application I can use to view and alter metadata from OpenDocument Text (odt) documents?
I would like to be able to add author and lisence information within the odt file...
I use OpenOffice.org 2.0 on Mac OS 10.4.3. |

Most (if not all) of that metadata comes from the "Document Info" dialogue (choose "Document Info" from the File menu), so simply changing that and saving the ODF document from OOo2 should be sufficient.
...Well, not some of the strange metadata collected by the app Adam linked to, since it's "generated" metadata, but all or most of the stuff NeoLight lets Spotlight index should be in that Document Info dialogue.

It runs, but unfortunately it doesn't work. The "Open" button never is enabled Doesn't matter if I run it with a double-click or using the command line.
Oooh, running from the command-line gets me a ton of error messages about null pointers and exceptions and other problematic programmer talk.
(It's also one of "those Java apps" that give Java a bad name on the Mac because it doesn't use the native menubar or Mac shortcuts, but I expect the author has done no platform optimizations whatsoever, so it'll be a little bit odd on every platform other than the one he/she used to write it. On the other hand, it is partially Aqua, and I think one has to do *some* work to make it use Aqua scrollbars, 'cause I've seen some Java apps that don't....)
Sadly, there's no contact info there, so I can't send a bug report about the "runs but fails to work" issue

Thanks, Adam. I'll get a bug report off this weekend.

Well, as I sat down to write the bug report, I somehow got it to work. Bizarre. Either I was hallucinating before, or dragging the .jar directly onto /System/Library/CoreServices/Jar Launcher got things working when double-clicking or the Terminal were insufficient.
Anyway...it does appear to work. Sorry for the red herring
