Is it just me, or is Patch 7 a performance-enhancing patch? It's very subjective, but it just feels spiffier...anyone else notice it? Cheers, _________________ Gib Henry

Also note that in the recent patches Patrick has been incorporating image handling improvements as noted in this thread. These improvements should help speed up certain types of drawing (particularly animations) and may also decrease memory requirements due to the elimination of some redundant image buffers.
One thing to note is that both Patrick and I place "speed"/"snappiness" as a lower priority than "correctness". It doesn't matter how fast something is if it can't render text correctly or doesn't print with correct kerning. Doesn't matter how fast something is if it's useless
Getting the optimization right is also a neverending battle as OOo engineers continue to extend VCL to do things that are more efficient on Windows but incur performance penalties everywhere else. Kudos for patrick for not giving up and continuing to fight the good fight
