Some ideas för NeoOffice

As a everyday user, I sometimes get ideas about improvements in NeoOffice. Some may be difficult to implement, or are already suggested.

*Using the built-in spellchecker in OS X. This would eliminate the need for downloading language files. Also, Hunspell is, at best, useful, on languages using compound words like Swedish or German. The built-in spellchecker is much better.
*Having "Open file..." in the default menu. As it is now, one can't open documents from inside NeoOffice without having already having one open.
*Skipping the splash screen. I rather do something else while waiting then staring at it.
*A button for collapsing the button rows, in the upper right corner.
*I would also say new icons, but it seems like underway.

Thanks for the suggestions. While many of them have been raised in the past except for the icons (which are underway due to some phenomenal community help) it will be some time before we can really think about the others.

Right now we're focused on getting our core application still functional so we unfortuantely don't have the resources to address most of these suggestions at this time. They are known, however, and thanks for providing your feedback!

Hi

I tried NeoOffice for a few weeks, to get away from Office, and its pretty good. Thank you.

Some suggestions + comments

BUGS
− Not switching between windows when go to Windows
− Zoom not give page width – want this as drop down in toolbar
− Customising toolbar, can't drag off ones don't want
− Keyboard shortcuts
− Not easy to customise
− Apple + [ and ] for change font size by 1 point

− -'s turn into bullets, tho if tab them, don't change style of bullet
− Hassle to delete http from start of http://www.altruists.org when has turned into link
− Sending as e-mail goes via Mail, tho set up Eudora in prefs, internet, and is set to Eudora in system

Features
− When save file, escape on keyboard should operate cancel
− When save new file, might suggest the first line or few words of the doc as filename
− When save file, apple + V does not paste...
− When no windows open, can't open recent window
− Where customising number of recent windows
− Drag and drop in customise toolbar
− Text direction, useful in tables
− In bullets, in Word, delete a bullet, press delete again and turns bullet off, so can organise lists well
− Keyboard shortcuts
− Apple + [ and ] for change font size by 1 point

Please note that the scope of the NeoOffice project is limited by available resources to keeping a native version of OpenOffice.org running on Mac OS X, and feature enhancements and fixing OpenOffice.org bugs are outside that scope (unless you happen to have significant funding you'd like to contribute towards implementing these items).

Note that many of your items are either already fixed in NeoOffice 2.1 Early Access or implemented in a different manner by the OpenOffice.org code.
