I've been trying to register an account for the Trinity forums, but am not receiving the conformation e-mail for three or four attempts now. It's not getting caught in my ISPs spam filter service, else it would be in the junk mailbox, it's not getting caught in my client spam filters (again, not in the junk mailbox). I've double checked my e-mail address when I'v esubmitted the account request. Is the forum server working correctly in processing new accounts (e.g., is it sending out the confirmation e-mail)?
I see there have been others with similar problems, but no real solutions have been offered. Perhaps there could be a different method for confirming accounts?

Yeah different ISPs have different methods by which they choose to do the registration service or not. There are other things that I was thinking of adding into the system like doing a captcha image or the like. The server doesn't actually use the e-mail address at all unless explicitly enabling the "notify for replies" stuff so it's a good candidate to be optional.
Unfortunately I haven't found any good "drop in" systems yet to replace user registration but I haven't looked in a while and maybe something's come up.
