I just read on the OOo list that Gerry Singleton passed away
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=150417
He contributed an amazing amount of work getting the OOo User Guide to it's current format.
Quote:
The Original Documentation is “OpenOffice.org User Guide for Version 2.x”.
Contributor(s): G. Roderick Singleton.
Portions created by G. Roderick Singleton are Copyright © 2005, 2006. All Rights Reserved.

I have not have time to double / triple check this information but believe it to be correct.

I only knew GRS by his efforts on the Documentation project. The world will be a poorer place without him.

Thanks Philip. That's very sad. I can categorically say that without him there would be no draft NeoOffice User Guide. I am in awe of the work this guy did, and the understanding that he developed of the program, as lead and obviously major writer of the OpenOffice.org User Guide [2.x]. There is absolutely no way that I could have worked up a NeoOffice Guide from scratch. Vale, Gerry.
