Hi,

I am leaping from Excel on a PC to Neo Office on a Mac. Most of the transition has gone seamlessly but I am finding printing a spreadsheet page from a multi-sheet spreadsheet quite a chore and non-intuitive. I find I often get multiple sheets printing even though I have set the Tools - Options - Print to Print Only Selected Sheets and have only one sheet selected.

Am I correct that the Format - Print Ranges - Define is essential in selecting data for printing and that the defined range is global and applies no matter which sheet is selected? If I try to print a sheet that is selected I often get the Defined Range (which is from another sheet) and the sheet that I have selected.

In Excel, and for most spreadsheet users that I know, each sheet of a multi-sheet spreadsheet is a faily discrete document and seldom does one print multiple sheets in one print job. Neo-office seems to regard them more as multiple pages of a single document. In Excel each sheet within a multi-sheet spreadsheet remembers its own print range which is what prints when you hit the Print button. My comfort with Excel may be clouding my expectations of Neo Office.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the process in Neo-office. Have a missed part of the printing logic?

Thanks for any help.

Tom

I'm not the right person to give advice as I find printing in both Excel and Calc "confusing", at the best of times.

You may find any of the following sufficiently illuminating as a conceptual overview:

Printing in OpenOffice.org Calc, Part I: Page styles

Printing with Calc (OOoAuthors)

And Chapter 4 in the NeoOffice User Guide (as listed in the left hand menu of these fora pages) provides further information.

Hope some/much/all of this helps!

This way works for me:

If you want print Sheet1 and Sheet3, click on the Sheet1 tab in the bottom of the document, then press the Command key and click on the Sheet3 tab in the bottom of the document. Choose the
File > Print…
menu and in the Printer Options window, check Print only selected sheets and OK.
