I am trying to drag some .jpg into a Writer and calc document with no luck.

I have tried to figure out from the help what is possible, but cannot seem to find any help.

So is it possible, it would be a real time saver, so does anyone know what to do?

You can insert pictures in jpg format in Calc and in Writer (and Impress).

Go to the Insert > Picture > From File… menu

In the Open window that appears, navigate to your picture, select it and click Open.

By default, the picture is anchored to paragraph, you can modify that by Ctrl-clicking (or right clicking) on the picture and chosing the options you want in the contextual menu.

Hope that helps.

HI!

And thank you for you swift reply.

I know i can insert them through the menu, but this is a very time consuming when doing more than 10 images.

So cant you drag and drop images from finder into neooffice ?

Sorry, I'm afraid the answer is no.

It's an OpenOffice.org feature. Unfortunately, the current scope of the NeoOffice project is limited by resources to keeping a native version of OpenOffice.org running on Mac OS X, and fixing OpenOffice.org feature bugs is outside that scope.

You can post a request for this feature in the OpenOffice.org issue tracker to get it on the radar of the core OpenOffice.org developers and if they fix the behavior, the new behavior will get included in a future release of NeoOffice:

http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html

Note : our advice is to post a request against OpenOffice.org 2.2.1 and not mention NeoOffice as mentioning NeoOffice will likely cause OOo volunteers to preemptively close it without actually confirming that the bug occurs in OOo.

One way to shorten the process a little bit is to go the the Tools Menu, Choose Customize and create a keyboard short cut or toolbar button. You want the Insert Category, and the From File Command.

Depending on the size and source of your images, if you have Butler or a clipboard manager application, you can copy several images and come back to the Neo document to paste them in. I haven't gotten this to work with iPhoto images and Butler; I can copy one at a time and paste, but the images won't go to Butler's Recent Pasteboards. Not sure if is an application issue or just a size issue. (The other images I copied this way were much smaller).
