I've had a bit of a poke round in the manual, here and on the Wiki but I've not found anything on this subject. I am working with a colleague who is running OO on Windows XP. We frequently produce documents containing graphics. I am aware that font metrics differ between the two OSs so I do not expect text to remain constant between the document opened on Windows and on Mac. I am surprised, however, at the way images seem to jump about the page in an extraordinary manner - appearing in one place when opened on Windows and somewhere else when opened on a Mac.

Is there any knowledge about this that anyone can point me to?

If you Control-click on an image that is having problems and select Anchor in the popup menu that appears, which anchor option is selected?

OK I've had a closer look. Thank you for the pointer.

I think what is happening is principally due to the difference in font metrics between the two OSs. Needless to say, this is not a problem I expect NO to sort out.

What it means is that for each case very careful thought needs to be given to whether to anchor to page or to paragraph - much more so than with a document which is only going to be used on one OS. Also great care needs to be taken in inserting manual page breaks.

I will keep an eye on it to see if that view is substantiated in future, and I will have a discussion with my colleague about the issue and about how to work round it.
