So I have to use templates for a variety of documents/reports for work. We use MS Office / Windows XP for work, but I'm running Leopard with Neooffice at home.

Everything seems to work ok, except the text fields on the standard forms are all grey. The documents print properly and display properly in Print View, but in the standard word processing view, what is normally a table with spaces for name, phone number, etc. are just solid gray.

Any ideas?

Neooffice is great. I sprung for MS Office Mac 2008, but MS removed VB support, making the aforementioned templates useless. Have to admit that I was surprised that an open source office suite could take MS Office to the cleaners. Good stuff.

Check your current setting in menu item View>Field Shadings. Sounds as if you have it activated, which is the default setting. Just de-select it.

Trust this helps.

Thanks, but I tried that. It's really odd; it looks like the input fields were redacted. There's just a big grey box. However, I can still click and input text in there, it's just that I can't see what I'm typing and where. Really odd. I suspect it's some sort of incompatibility with the templates being created in MSWord.

I'm going to try and recreate the forms in neooffice; it's just a series of tables and such. I doubt whatever advanced solution the designer was going for has been (or ever will be) implemented by my company, and nobody will ever know I'm using a homebrewed form (perish the thought...).
