|
Quote: | In Mac OS X 10.5.x, Apple added grammar checking support for a small number of languages. NeoOffice takes advantage of this Mac OS X feature and so we have added several menu items in the Tools :: Add-ons menu. These menu items allow you to use Mac OS X Leopard's grammar checker to check the grammar and recommend corrections for your document's selected text or your entire document. Please note that at this time, Mac OS X's grammar checker only supports English. |
The last sentence somehow contradicts the first sentence IMHO.

Well, "one" is a "small number"

True. However, we wrote it that way because we hope Apple will soon add one or more languages in a system update (I am surprised they still have not done this) and when they do I can just add more languages to the last sentence.

A follow-up question: Can NeoOffice use other Mac OS X languages resources as well, e.g. spell checking or the dictionary (English, Japanese)?

NeoOffice uses any languages that the Mac OS X spellchecker supports. Since NeoOffice and OpenOffice.org documents supports assignment of different languages to specific sections of text, the assigned language will be used as the language when contacting the Mac OS X spellchecker.
The Mac OS X Dictionary is an application, not a service so you cannot lookup the meaning of words within NeoOffice. What you can do in NeoOffice is highlight a word and select the NeoOffice :: Services :: Look Up in Dictionary menu. The highlighted text will be sent to the Dictionary application and the Dictionary application will display an entry if it exists.

How I can use a keyboard shotcut for look up in dictionary? Is it possible?
It will be great if NeoOffice can use native dictionary Os X or stardict... or dictionaries for stardict as thesaurus... |

Unfortunately, there's no access to the Services item in the NeoOffice menu in NeoOffice's customisation section. You might want to look at an app like Butler/Quicksilver/iKey for assigning keystrokes to system-wide macros. You'd certainly be able to do this in iKey, I don't use the others so I don't know if it's possible with them.

Update: neat, I've added this to my iKey commands now - copies selected text to clipboard, launches Dictionary, switches to Dictionary, pastes text, and hits Return - then Dictionary looks up the word. If you try this in another of the apps I mentioned, you probably need to follow the same event sequence. |

Shortcuts for items in the Services menu should be customizable using the standard Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences method. I just added Cmd-Shift-Ctrl-D and it's working fine.

Just to confirm. The Services menu is not created by NeoOffice. Instead, it is a Mac OS X system menu so Smokey is correct that shortcuts are settable from the Keyboard & Mouse panel in the System Preferences application.
