As you can see in the image I've attached, misspelled words, in particular, the one currently under review, i.e., the word which currently has a suggested spelling in the "Suggestions" window, drops out of the "Not in dictionary window". I was running the latest patch (7) when I first noticed this, and so uninstalled and started from scratch (2.2.5), though the problem still persists, as can be seen in my attachment.

I cannot reproduce this behavior. I even set my entire document to English (Canada) by selecting the Format :: Character menu and setting English (Canada) in the Font tab.

Since I cannot reproduce it, I suspect that something unique is in your user preferences or spellchecking dictionaries. So, I have the following questions:

1. Is your entire document set to English (Canada)? You can verify this by pressing Command-A to select the entire document, selecting the Format :: Character menu and in the dialog that appears, click on the Font tab, and set set the Western language to English (Canada). Does that cause any change?

2. If there is no change after doing step 1, can you try the following steps? These steps will force NeoOffice to create a new set of user preference files with default values. Does this cause any change?:

- Quit NeoOffice
- Move the following folders if they exist to the Desktop or Trash. Note that "~" means your Home folder:

~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.2
~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.x

- Restart NeoOffice

Thank you for your attempt at a solution. In response to your enquiry

#1 – I had already had the language setting of English (Canada).

#2 – I have done as prescribed here, though to no effect.

Hmmm. If you repeat step 1 but this time change the language to English (USA), does the problem still occur? If not, then that tells us that something in the Canadian English spellchecking dictionary is the problem.

Again, thank you for your efforts. Sadly, reverting to U.S. English has had no effect.

Unfortunately, I have no new theories as to what is happening on your machine. Has anything changed on your machine recently?
