Posted: Fri Feb 20, 2009 9:33 am Post subject: Problem with pasting a Sheet over a Sheet, NeoOffice Freeze
Deal All, I was wondering if maybe someone could help me with a problem. On the attached document, if I click on the upper left hand corner select all from Sheet A, copy that, select the upper left hand corner on sheet B and try and paste, NeoOffice 3.0 Freezes as hard as a rock. But If I do it to a blank sheet, sheet C it is fine and pastes perfectly. Any ideas?
Steps:
1) Open Workbook.xls or Workbook.ods
2) Click upper left hand corner on Sheet A
3) Copy (Either through Menu, or Open Apple C)
4) Select Sheet B
5) Click upper left hand corner on Sheet B
6) Paste (Either through Menu or Open Apple V)
7) Either the question to overwright comes up if you have that show or not if you have set it to not show.

I have submitted Bug 3423 for this issue in Bugzilla. Please add yourself to the cc: list in the bug to follow its progress.
I also tried these steps in OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 and the following message appeared in a pop up dialog box after selecting Paste:
Cell merge not possible if cells already merged.
There is an OK button. The information is not pasted and OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 does not hang. I think the solution will be similar for NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2.
FYI. I have posted links to a test patch that I think fixes this bug in my last post in bug 3423. My fix preserves the functionality that Novell's Go-oo engineers added so pasting of the sheet should now work. But note that the pasting is a bit slow and will take 15 to 20 seconds.
