Now that the end of the NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access Program is next week, I wanted to outline what we plan on doing over the next week.
Like previous Early Access Programs, we will make the NeoOffice 3.0 release available to Early Access Program members a few days before the general public. Assuming no new critical bugs are found today or tomorrow, NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access Program members will be able to download NeoOffice 3.0 starting on Thursday, 26 March 2009 from the NeoOffice Early Access Program download page.
Unfortunately, due to our fix for bug 3426, there will be no patch to upgrade your NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 installation and you will need to download NeoOffice 3.0. Fortunately, none of the language packs have changed so if you have any language packs installed and you install NeoOffice 3.0 over and existing NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 installation, you should not need to reinstall any language packs.
On 31 March 2009, we will close the current Early Access Program and NeoOffice 3.0 will be downloadable by the general public from the regular NeoOffice download page. In addition, since we will continue to make NeoOffice 2.2.5 available, the download page will have a link to NeoOffice 2.2.5 downloads.

Great to hear, Patrick. I am leaving tomorrow for a three week trip, so I may miss the official launch. But regardless, thanks for all your work on this!
All in all, the EAP uncovered some pretty significant bugs and (thankfully) not too many crashes. I'd call the program a success for that reason.
It will be interesting to see how fast users will take up NeoOffice 3. At the moment, NeoOffice and OpenOffice.org have version parity (it won't last long, of course), so hopefully the pundits will not whine as much as they tend to.
But it may be a good idea to put someone on slashdot & server overload watch..
Best wishes,

Again, major thanks to all the people who helped during the EAP by reporting problems, and I think Patrick really deserves a big congratulatory pat on the back yet again for his amazing effort. The work he does fixing issues should humble any software company. With most companies and projects you're lucky if you get bug fix turnaround time of a year! And I know how draining it is to be working 10hr+ days for months. Superhuman.
Here's hoping that with all of this great work we'll have a nice smooth release
FYI. Members and subscribers of the current Early Access Program can now download NeoOffice 3.0. Links to the download page are in this release announcement.
