Hi, I seem to have a problem printing. I get loads of pages with lots of commands line after line but not the words I typed?
Any advice help greatly appreciated.
I'm using a Mac G4 OS 10.3.9 and printing via a network. Confused

Did you try printing with a different Mac OS X application like Safari or TextEdit? If you get the same behavior, then the problem is your printer.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your reply and help. The printer is shared by 3 computers, 2 are fine as is the printer. The one I'm having problems with just prints out sheets and sheets of gobblygook...very strange...
Thanks if you can offer any more thoughts.
Regards,
Stuart

Do you mean two of the computers are fine and the printer is fine, it's just the third computer you are having trouble with? If so, please can you try Patrick's suggestion: on the computer you are having trouble with, try printing something using Safari or TextEdit. If these applications also do not print then the problem is with that third computer rather than NeoOffice.

At the moment what you describe sounds typical of a problem between computer and printer rather than anything specific to NeoOffice.

This is guesswork, frankly, but you may be using the wrong driver to communicate with your printer, or the printer driver may be corrupted.

Your printer manufacturer's web site may have something to offer under 'Support'. Otherwise I'd recommend downloading and installing the latest printer driver for your printer (and your version of OS X) from the manufacturer's site. Go through the steps to set up your printer from scratch and see if that solves the problem.

You may also have a corrupted print queue for that printer on that specific computer. The Mac Help system suggests two possible things to try.
1) delete the problematic printer and then add it back.
2) if that doesn't work, you can try resetting the printing system. If you search help on that, you will get a set of steps for how to do this.

I have occasionally had problems where I either get blank pages or pages of nonsense characters. One of these two things has always fixed it.

Bear in mind that a corrupted print queue on a computer that is directly connected to a shared printer will result in problems for all computers that try to print to the shared printer.

Hi Steve,
I tried all your suggestions except resetting the printer system, I can't seem to find help on how to do that.
I still have the same problem??
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Stuart

Patrick (Pluby) gave some explanations ;

Quote:
I did the following steps to force Mac OS X to redetect my printers and now printing works in all applications, including NeoOffice:

1. Launch the System Preferences application, click on the Print and FAX icon, and select the Printing tab

2. Control click in the list of printers and select the "Reset printing system..." popup menu

3. Press the "+" icon to readd your printers

It think it's for 10.5 it could be different in 10.3.9
