Hello everyone,

I hope than someone read and thought about my idea of converting NeoO to moderately-priced shareware (10-15$) to help development and support.

Meanwhile, I found an issue with Snow Leopard, 10.6. NeoOffice 3.0 has latest path 7 installed, and I installed Snow Leopard from Leopard.

As seen on the screenshot, the special character insertion dialog is broken. All fonts seem affected.

Please search before you post. You are now the third person to post about this in this forum in the last 24 hours.

This is bug 3538. Apple has definitely broken some of the font metric query functions in Snow Leopard.

Unfortunately, no development is being done on NeoOffice 3.0 at this time and all Snow Leopard development work and bug fixing will occur in NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access release which is scheduled for release on 15 September 2009.

If you are a NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access Program member, the fix will be included in the NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access release scheduled for 15 September.

If you are not a NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access member, any bug fixes that we do during the Early Access Program will be available fordownload NeoOffice 3.0.1 starting on 27 October 2009.

In fact, I did a quick search, but found nothing Sad

I bet my search terms were not accurate enough.

Quick question: which search function did you use, the forum's built-in search or the Google search at the top right of every forum page?

I avoid using Google every time possible, so I used the integrated search.

It's pretty much useless. If you are to find anything (on Trinity, that is), you'd better use the Google search (that's why it was added, FWIW).

I have encountered 2 oddities since the upgrade to Snow Leopard, please ignore my comment if these have been filed already.

1. NeoOffice appears in exposé even if there is not a single window open.

2. In the NeoOffice Help Menu I don't have the search box anymore, in other apps it is still there as usual.

Actually, when no windows are open, there still is a 1x1 pixel window, which is what you're seeing. Of course, Snow Leopard's Exposé makes it more obvious.

Unfortunately, that window cannot be removed, as it is what makes the "menus when no documents are open" feature work. The OpenOffice.org code on which NeoOffice is based requires menus to be attached to a window, so if there are to be menus there has to be a window, too.

Wow, thanks for the explanation, I could have sworn that this 1 pixel windows was not there before, but I must be like you said that it is seen more clearly in the revamped Exposé of Snow Leopard.
Interestingly other apps such as Mail don't need an open window to have the menu.

Still wondering what happened to this useful help searchbox feature.

That's because Apple Mail isn't based on OpenOffice.org Smile
