Hi,
99% of my new documents get a footing line with a page numbering; which I add via Format / page / footing.
Is there any way to get that by default?
So I would have to change it back only in 1 % of all cases.

You should create a default template with the settings you want. See Editing Default Styles and Using templates

Thanks. I did it and it works very well. I had templates already but didn't know I can choose one as default.
In the mentioned Neowiki text there is an uncessary "the".
Instead of
"You should then save the it using the item ..."
it should be
"You should then save it using the item ...". I guess.

Thank you for pointing out that typo. I have removed the unnecessary "the" from that NeoWiki article.

Hi Lorinda,
one more question. I don't know how to get from the Main Page of NeoWiki
http://neowiki.neooffice.org/index.php/Main_Page
to any detailed page, like the one you mentioned. At the left side of the Main Page of NeoWiki I have a navigation table. But it doesn't lead to
Editing Default Styles and Using Templates, at least as far as I see. And selecting "Random Page" is no convenient procedure for solving a special problem.
In the middle there is another navigation list but only for common features like "How to Report Problems" etc.
Even if I had known to solve my initial problem via templates: a search for "template" results in approx. 500 hits (to be true: the 4th in that hit list is the helpfull Editing Default Styles and Using Templates).
Why is there no table of contents or anything like that at the Main Page of NeoWiki? Or am I the only one who doesn't see it?

First, I should say that I have an advantage when it comes to finding wiki articles, given that I have written, translated, or edited many of them. So I often know just the right search terms to use.

A good "jumping off" place in the wiki is the Tips and Hints page, which does include a section on templates.

It would probably be a good idea to add it to the "navigation" box on the left side of every wiki page. I'm not sure how to do that, as it is beyond my wiki skills. If none of the other "wiki elves" chime in here in that regard, I'll start a thread in the Wiki forum proposing such a change.

Suggestions for improving the wiki are always welcome, although sometimes our volunteer resources are such that not everything gets done.

Wikis are not structured to be laid out like a book. Instead, they are really just a big repository of unrelated pages so most Wikis are really designed to be something that is searched.

I usually use the Google search box at the top of the page but if you prefer to search other ways, the Special Pages link on the left side of each page has several different pages that might be useful. Specifically, if you are looking for a list of page titles to search through, the Wiki software that we use has an All Pages page. This is probably the page that is the most similar to a table of contents.

Also, the wiki's own search engine is in the search box in the lefthand column; it's not as good as Google in a lot of things, but if you're looking for something specifically on the wiki (as opposed to all of neooffice.org, which is what the Google box does), it's your friend. Smile
