How do I reverse the order of a group of cells, other than reenter (or copy and paste) every one?

I.e., is there a command that will move the bottom to the top, and vice versa?

Here's an example, 4 rows x 2 columns.

From: To:

1 abc 4 pmijk
2 xxwey 3 feq
3 feq 2 xxwey
4 pmijk 1 abc

It doesn't have to be done in place.

I tried selecting the group of cells top to bottom and then pasting them into a selection that was made from bottom to top, but it didn't work.

Best way to reverse their order would be to number the rows, then sort on those numbers in reverse order. Finally, hide or delete the column holding the numbers you added.

Note: The TRANSPOSE() function won't work for this. That function converts the columns into rows, i.e., it makes the column array go to a row array.

Note (for the benefit of Google, or anyone else not familiar with the trick) that to number the rows, select a column (or the cells in that column that match the rows you want), and choose Edit: Fill…: Series. Enter your start, end, and increment values, and *poof*, Neo has numbered your rows.

To continue Smokey's tip:
Alternatively, you can enter "1" in the top cell, grab the lower right corner, and drag to the bottom. Neo will number the cells sequentially. This will work for short lists, but for longer ones use Smokey's method. Dragging clear to the bottom of a 1000-row spreadsheet is, well

....a drag. Very Happy

Ooh, nifty tip! However, it only works for me with an actual number in the top cell. Confused

Doggone typos. I corrected it.

BTW, try entering "Tuesday" in that top cell, and drag it down. It'll increment any ordered list you have stored, and will do dates (by day) as well. Enter "1/30/09" at the top and drag down.

And it'll do the same thing dragging across.

To see the lists available, check Tools->options... and choose Calc::Sort lists.
