I am using 3.0 patch 1

I had to hard-restart my macbook (froze because of problem with mini displayport). When the system restarted, all of the documents that were open in NeoOffice were considered "locked by other user".
In other words, since they were not properly closed (due to crash), the documents remained locked forever. The only solution I know is to save them to a different file name.
Any other insights on this?
Thank you
Yaron

There is a tip here on NeoWiki. Does that solve the problem for you?

I strongly recommend you upgrade to the current version of NeoOffice (3.0.1 Patch 0). The last patch in 3.0 was Patch 7, and the lessons learned have been rolled into the new release.

Opening and closing by the same user didn't work, however removing the lock using the rm command on the terminal window did the trick.

Thank you very much!!

Like James3359, I would highly recommend that you upgrade to NeoOffice 3.0.1 which you can download from the NeoOffice download page.

With NeoOffice 3.0.1, you will not encounter these annoying lock files as we removed these files and replaced it with the native file locking.

In NeoOffice 3.0's underlying OpenOffice.org 3.0 code, Sun Microsystems' engineers stopped using native file locking and starting using custom, non-native file locking code. Since most office suite applications use native file locking, their custom, non-native code caused frequent problems when users on different machines were editing the same file on a networked volume. So starting in NeoOffice 3.0.1, we have restored native file locking in NeoOffice and now file locking should work the same as it did in NeoOffice 2.2.6.
