I’ve been comparing OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 & NeoOffice 3.0.1. I like the concept behind NeoOffice, of trying to create a truly native Mac look and feel. So i find it ironic that the former seems more Mac-like to me in two important respects:
1) It (more or less) uses the system highlight color (issue addressed in this topic)
2) It doesn’t litter the dialogs, menus and buttons with Windoze-like keyboard shortcut underlining.
I will report to OpenOffice.org as an error their playing with the highlight color, so hopefully this will correct the problem for NeoOffice in the future.
#2, however, is so offensive to me as to make NeoOffice seem altogether non-Mac-like. To the point that i favor OpenOffice.org. Is this a clean-up which happened in OpenOffice.org 3.1, and NeoOffice just hasn’t caught up yet?
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum; couldn’t post to the others, and don’t plan to donate to the project until i feel NeoOffice is useful to me.

Yes. Your post is in the wrong forum and it is very inappropriate of you to post your complaints in this forum so I am locking this forum.

This is a support question and support questions belong in the NeoOffice Support forum, not in this forum. Please search the forums for how to turn off the appropriate Mac OS X system preference that tells Mac OS X applications to underline menus, buttons, etc.
Although I normally do not respond to non-donor support questions, I thought that some of our donors may be interested to know which Mac OS X system preference they need to disable to stop this underlining behavior.
You are seeing underlines in buttons, popup menus, etc. because you have enabled Mac OS X's "full keyboard access" system preference.
NeoOffice supports many of Mac OS X's special preferences and features like this and the Services menu that OpenOffice.org does not support and you have enabled one of those special preferences.
To disable the Mac OS X "full keyboard access" system preference, press the Control-F1 keys. Then, after you close and reopen any NeoOffice windows, the underlines in buttons, popup menus, etc. should no longer appear. Repeating these steps will turn "full keyboard access" back on.
Note: I have moved this topic to the NeoOffice Support forum, changed the forum title to make this post eaiser to find, and unlocked it so that donors can reply if they need to.
