|
I sort-of feel like this question was answered before when I wasn't paying complete attention, but I've poked around and can't find it mentioned; apologies if I missed the discussion.
I don't usually have multiple windows open any more, so I don't usually visit the Window menu. Today, however, I did, and I was puzzled by this "NeoOffice" window listed in the menu, which I finally realized was our 1x1 pixel hidden window for the "no-windows-open-menus".
Is there perhaps a way to filter it out of the list of windows to show in the Window menu? I know the hidden window in XUL apps like Firefox doesn't show up in the window menu, but I also know that while their hidden window is similar in the general sense, the specific technical details underlying the implementations are completely different. If not, it's not spilled milk, but I did notice it today and wondered about it

I thought that I had looked at trying to filter that Windows menu item out when I was fixing this Exposé problem but since I did not post anything about the Window menu item, I will look at it again in the next week.

Thanks, Patrick. That was one of the threads that I re-read and where I figured I had missed the discussion, since I tuned out a little bit once it became clear it was a 10.6-only symptom.

I have good news: I found the OpenOffice.org that populates the Windows menu. After some tweaking of the code, the Windows menu for the 1 x 1 pixel window will never be added.
Also, since the OpenOffice.org code never expects the Windows to not have any windows listed (on Windows and Linux menus are attached to windows so the OpenOffice.org code assumes that there must be a document window for a this menu to be displayed), I have tweaked the code to disable the second Windows menu item (i.e. the Close Window menu item) when there are no windows added to the Windows menu.
The attached screen snapshot shows what the Windows menu looks like when no document windows are open. This change is too risky for a patch but I will include it in the upcoming NeoOffice 3.0.2 Early Access release.

Looks wonderful; thanks! Glad you could disable Close Window, too
