|
I discovered today that support for text Services is broken in NeoOffice 3.1.1, in both PPC and Intel versions, in Tiger (PPC) and Snow Leopard (Intel, obviously).
To reproduce:
-Open a Writer document.
-Select some text in the document
-Go to the NeoOffice menu and choose Services
-running Tiger, all the text-based services are greyed out (e.g. Text Edit>New Document containing selection)
-running Snow Leopard, you see "No Services Apply" in the menu.
I can confirm that text-based services work in NeoOffice 3.0.2 (PPC) on Tiger. I don't currently have 3.0.2 on my Intel/Snow Leopard machine, but I can install it if necessary.

Same disabled behavior on 10.5.8/Intel, fwiw.

Unfortunately, this will have to wait to be fixed until after release as the NeoOffice 3.1.1 has already been built and uploaded to our servers.
I will file a bug soon so that I don't forget about this one.

I have opened bug 3601 to track this issue.

Thanks, Patrick. I'm sorry I didn't catch it earlier. My use of Services is sporadic, so I hadn't run into it before.
The work around for the moment is to copy the text into Text Edit (or another app that supports Services), use the Service, and then copy and paste it back if necessary.

Good news. I was able to fix this bug in time for today's NeoOffice 3.1.1 release. The bug was caused by my failure to properly merge one of the NeoOffice 3.0.2 source code files with the OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 code.
NeoOffice 3.1.1 is currently available for Early Access program members and can be downloaded from the NeoOffice Early Access Program download page.
Is this bug fixed for you in NeoOffice 3.1.1?

Seems fixed for me in 3.1.1 on 10.5.8/Intel with some random Services testing.

Same here on 10.6.3. I haven't had chance to download 3.1.1 for my PPC machine yet, but I'll get to it tonight.
