While testing some lengthy Writer documents in NeoOffice on the latest test version of macOS Monterey, we found that NeoOffice would sometimes spellcheck a large block of text on the application's main thread and that would cause NeoOffice to become unresponsive until spellchecking on that block of text finished.
Since spellchecking is a background activity in NeoOffice's underlying LibreOffice 4.4 code, we fixed this bug by forcing all LibreOffice spellchecking code to run on a thread other than the application's main thread.
You do not need to wait until the next NeoOffice release to get the fix. You can get the fix now by downloading and installing the following test patch:
