If you can bold/italic with the shortcut, it's not the key (or the setting in X11.app).

It's more likely you're running up against the clipboard size limit in OOo instead (it's quite small, and is listed as a known issue in the OOo Mac OS X (X11) 1.1.2 Readme.

Yes, Eric B. committed part of the "small" patch (that shipped with 1.1.2, not the full "three modifiers patch" that OOo has consistently rejected due to the issue Ed notes above; note that it's only part of the "small" patch, thgough, because Ctrl does not work as Mac-Ctrl) and it has worked for the last dozen or so builds.
