Hi All,
I just recently installed X11 and OO on my Powerbook running OS X 10.4.3. Initially it runs just fine, but I'm having trouble with it freezing when I try to import data into a database. I don't have a problem with small amounts of data, but larger tables (over 1000 rows) seem to cause the problem.
When I get to the final step in the Wizard, it just hangs there. Eventually I just end up doing a "Force Quit", but if I restart X11 and OO, the crashing/freezing persists.
Restarting the computer seems to help, but my question is this: Is there a way to restart or reset X11 somehow without restarting the entire operating system.
A couple of years ago when I was tinkering with Apache in OS X, I could do a "graceful" restart without restarting the machine. Is there something similar I can do with X 11 so I don't have to restart the computer in order to begin importing data?
I should apologize in advance. I know just enough to be dangerous here. I'm relatively new to Unix and very new to X11. If my terminology is wrong or confusing, it's because I don't know what I'm doing. |
