I don't know how to launch open office and when i try launching it from the terminal I can't figure out what to do...I closed the terminal window and it said "Could not launch XWindow Server:XDarwin"...Help!!
couple questions: what version of openoffice.org do you have?
what version of OSX are you running?
OpenOffice.org for the mac needs an X11 program to run. Both panter and tiger include x11 on the install disks, but you have to purposely add it.
once you add it, the launching openoffice depends on the version. 1.1.2 will use the program 'start openoffice.org' which is an applescript program. version 2.0RC3 is a .app file itself, so simply double clicking will work.
in both cases, the x11 progam will start first, then the oo.o program.

and if you want, try neooffice, it is openoffice1.1.4 with no x11 requirements and lots of native niftyness!
