I tried PM'ing a few people last night and after about five hours, only two of the messages had been sent. I then PM'ed someone else and that message got sent straight away whereas the others were still sitting in my Outbox. I decided to delete the ones in my Outbox and try again, and over 14 hours later 3 of the four are still in my Outbox!

What is the usual mechanism for the sending of PM's - should they be sent almost instantly or are they sent at fixed times? If so, why aren't all my PM's getting sent?

JKT,

They stay in your outbox until they are read on the other end, then they go to your sent box. this way you could edit or change before they read it.

that being said i had issues last night with the PM part. i kept getting "module XXX not found" type errors.

seems to be ok now...

Ah... that's actually a nice system, but now I feel stoopid for not knowing it, hehe! Embarassed

Thanks for the explanation... but in the end I gave up and sent e-mails instead Wink

There really isn't a whole lot to play with to be honest, so feel free to take as long as you like... Wink

Cheers.

Thanks for the explanation. Maybe it should be added under https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=faq#33

That FAQ is hardcoded in the PHPNuke software that we use for this site. Technically we could "fix" it, but I tend to not change any of the PHPNuke code unless I have to as I have found the PHPNuke code to be very fragile and changing one thing almost invariably breaks something important elsewhere in the code.

Every once in a while I dream of ditching the PHPNuke code and move to different forum software that is more actively supported. But then when I start thinking about all that work that would be needed to convert all of the users and posts and reimplement the donation checking, I get overwhelmed and accept that for us, PHPNuke is NeoOffice.org's "legacy system". Sad

I wondered whether it was hard-coded. Best left alone then!
