Hello, does anyone know how to set up footnotes so that they appear within the margin of the page?

Are you talking about real footnotes or just a footer? If it is just a footer, then select from the Writer menu Insert -> Footer and select the available footers that you have set up. The default footer should always be available.
If you are talking about the standard footnote starting with a one inch line, I don't know how to do this, but someone here will be available to help you.

I have been able to add the footers (I think that is what I want to add), but they always appear outside of the margins in the actual main text area which reduces the amount of text I can put on the page. What I am looking to do is add the headers and footers so that they don't take away from the amount of text I can fit on the page. For my class, I have to have the margins set at a specific place and have to have a page number at the bottom or top within the margins. Right now using NeoOffice, I can add the headers and footers, but they aren't within the margins. I have to write the paper in NeoOffice and then go to the computer labs at school and transfer it to Word.

So if you are talking about NeoOffice, why are you posting a duplicate cross-post in this forum when you have already posted this question in the NeoOffice support forum?

This forum is for OpenOffice.org X11 questions, not NeoOffice.
