Hi,

it seems that somebody tries to "aquafy" KDE's own office-suite "KOffice": http://ranger.befunk.com/blog/

yeah, seems he got Konquerer to run, and the libraries make KOffice easy to complie over as well. No binaries yet for either though, and may be a while still.

Imagine, we could use the most (or all) KDE-apps with Aqua!

That would be a great gift to the Mac users Smile Maybe this news are more exciting than that we will recieve from Steve Jobs next week Wink

The aquafied KOffice is really KOffice rebuilt with Qt/Mac. Qt/Mac is the Qt application framework ported to run on top of Carbon (I think). The fundamental problem that OOo faces on the Mac is still shared by KOffice...the interface isn't really designed for Mac users, so it'll still feel like a foreign application.

An example from the screenshots is the tabbed dialog. The dialog has multiple rows of tabs at the top. This is common on Win32, appeared rarely in other Mac applications, but with the advent of the tab control changes in 10.3 it's no longer really an option. There's no good way to do multiple rows of combo buttons...visually it's set up for a single row.

OOo's use of X11 right now simply accentuates all of these differences Smile

Even if it has Aqua buttons, there's still a large difference between a port and a good Mac citizen.
