Hi all,
I've just installed OpenOffice 1.0.3 on my Mac OS X (10.2.6) and it seems like the old way to emulate the right button of the mouse doesn't work anymore.
In fact the README file says:
Quote:
New Features
The new/fixed features in the 1.0.3 GM release include:
...
use of Command key as shortcut key
...

Actually I still need the Control key as a shortcut (eg for cut & paste) so the only visible effect is that Command key doesn't do anything. That's bad...

My X11 preferences are correctly set ("Emulate three buttn mouse"): in fact the emulation of the middle button with the option key just works as usual.

Any idea?

TIA.

Ciao,
Dex

The use of the command key as the "Meta" shortcut key only works when Command isn't being grabbed by the X server application itself. Under Apple X11, you may need to turn off "Enable menu shortcuts" (I think that's right...) or change the way the three button mouse is emulated in order for X11 applications to receive "Meta" keystroke events.

Whether or not the Command key is reserved for the X server or is translated into "Meta" seems to be changing with each new release of Apple X11 and XDarwin, so you may need to play with the settings of the X server until you can get it to work.

The code in OpenOffice.org is there...it's just that the X servers don't always give us the key!

In my iBook install, I hold down the Command key to simulate right-mouse-button (RMB). Granted, this is different than all the other X11 applications I use, but it works.

I've an update on my topic. I've just installed the latest X11 server form Apple (vers. 0.3) and now I can simulate again the right bottom using the Command key.

Just to make a recap:

    - OpenOffice 1.0.1 with Apple X11 vers. 0.2 => OK
    - OpenOffice 1.0.3 with Apple X11 vers. 0.2 => problems
    - OpenOffice 1.0.3 with Apple X11 vers. 0.3 => OK

Thanks and ciao
