In my effort to regain control of my OpenOffice install, I started to install 1.0.3 and up came the dialog box about XDarwin missing, so I pressed cancel. However, it didn't cancel or uninstall or continue to install. It just stopped responding. So, I force quit the install. Then I lost the ability to use Drag Thing with some deep corruption and my Favorites, app folders, etc. all lost their icons.

So, I went through the install process again and let it continue all the way through so that I could get to the uninstall app, which I ran.

Now, I'm wondering if I porked my system in some way. I looked for the invisible .gnome folder that was in my User/name folder with Terminal. I found those folders placed there by my mistaken install of 1.1, so I'm hoping the successful use of the uninstall app removed all vestiges of Open Office including 1.03 and 1.1 as well.
I'd like to start fresh, but want to make sure I didn't really do some serious damage in the cancel/force quit process.

Thanks for any insights.
Jeff

Okay, I rebooted and all things seemed to return to normal. Ran Repair Permissions, etc. I finally got 1.0.3 reinstalled and working using the X11 launching instructions on :http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/02/07/x11.html

It said to use a path to Open Office with Customized applications menu from X11:

/Applications/OpenOffice.org1.0.1/program/soffice

So I think I'm good to go.
