Hi,
I ordered the OO v.1.0.3 CD, and have X11 installed from the Panther CD. Now I don't know what to install. Here are the options:
ooo103darwingm.dmg.gz
OOo_1.1.0_031006_MacOSX_install_en.tar/gz
ooo11rc3_macosx_developer.tar.gz
ooo103l18ngm.dmg.gz
Please somebody help! I have just been using the Mac for 1 year, and this is beyond me. Thanks

Most (maybe all) of what you need is in ooo103darwingm.dmg.gz
Double-click that file, and you should be asked where to put the decompressed .dmg file. This may open automatically. If not, double-click it. Once some checking that the file is not corrupted has been done, a new disk should appear, containing the installation package, and some instructions. You should read these, but basically you double -click the installer and let it do its job.

Because you have Panther and X11 you do not need to install Xdarwin or OroborOSX. You DO need ghostscript (for printing), fondu (to convert all your installed fonts for ooo to use) and dlcompat (to get the other utilities to work).

When you are asked what Xwindows environment you want to use, select X11.

Most of the installation problems mentioned in these forums are due to 'odd' setups of OSX. If you mostly left things where Apple put them, the installer will work OK.

If you are only going to be using OOo for writing in (US) English, you don't need to install anything else. The ooo103l18ngm.dmg.gz
file contains dictionaries and help files in other languages. The 'developer' file is the latest (and not quite finished) version of OOo. There is no automatic installer for this, so you may wish to leave it alone for now Smile

Just for clarification...the ooo103darwingm.dmg 1.0.3 installer will also install any program needed to run OOo if it's not present (dlcompat, fondu, ghostscript, etc.). The only thing it can't install for Panther systems is Apple X11 Smile
