As NeoOffice is a really "heavy" progam which takes a long time to open- wouldn't it be possible ( like in MicrosOffice) to " separate" the various programs ( spreadsheet/text etc.) and decide which one to open by default- just to make it run faster?

The easiest way to do that is by making a few blank documents (or templates) and clicking on one of those. The proper application will open and voila - your preferred documents settings are already in place..

I tried it once, but my knife wasn't sharp enough ... Idea ... sorry for the bad joke. This idea pops up every four weeks (or so), and the answer is always the same: Happy thought (albeit not very original), but it wouldn't be Neo/OpenOffice anymore, which is kind of built as a monolithic block. If you don't take the task upon yourself (about 20 zillion programming hours), it won't happen (plus it would be probably more easy to create a totally new office suite. Maybe Apple is going to take iWork more seriously, if I call Bill & persuade him to pull Office for Mac). Embarassed

See NeoOffice Launch Shortcuts for more about what Oscar mentioned.
