I am using an iMac/Panther. The text in all my text documents looks funny. It is rather fuzzy and has bits of color through it. It prints just fine, but is not easy to read on the screen. Is there a setting in OO 1.0.3 that will change the look of the text? Is it a Mac thing? Thanks

This sounds like the 'sparkly fonts' bug. It occurs when the Mac screen is set to "Thousands" of colours rather than "Millions", because of the way OOo antialiases text for itself, rather than using the system antialiasing, which works fine at "thousands". Use the displays control panel to set the display to "Millions of Colors", and see if the problem persists. Modern graphics cards are optimised for "Millions of Colors" operation, and switching to "Thousands" does not give the speed benefits it did on older machines.

I concur with Luke. The problem is really arising in XDarwin or Apple X11 betas. If you look in their Preferences, they have their own setting for the color depth. This should be set to "millions", even if the Mac display itself is set to thousands. Even if you change the display depth in System Preferences, you will still need to change the one in the X server independently.
