I'm not sure whether this is NeoJ or OOo 1.0.3; it behaves properly in Ed's "installer test" version of OOo 1.1.1b X11....

Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonin_Dvorak

Copy Dvorak's full name and paste into NeoJ.

From Safari v125, the á is missing in the result of the paste.

From iCab, the accute accents become boxes and the ř becomes a Cyrillic character (not totally unexpected, but surprising since pasting into 1.1.1b works perfectly).

From Firefox, everything's perfect.

I can file this in Bugzilla later, but I'm in the middle of something right now and it's quicker to post here Smile

Smokey,

This is not a copy/paste bug. Instead, the problem is caused by the OOo's inability to parse Mac OS X's custom RTF. Both TextEdit and Safari paste RTF using the custom Mac OS X format whereas OOo can only fully understand the Microsoft RTF format.

The reason that copying from other applications sometimes work is that those applications either don't paste their data in RTF format or they don't use the custom Mac OS X RTF format.

This problem will occur in NeoJ even when NeoJ is upgraded to the OOo 1.1 codebase.

I now recall the thread about copy/paste/RTF that happened when I arrived here. I believe that just focused on formatting, but good to know that character encoding gets messed with, too. Thanks.

BTW, it appears that the RTF parsing code in OOo 1.1 can handle Mac OS X's RTF much better. I saved a few RTF files in TextEdit and opened them in OOo 1.1 and they seem to have fewer parsing problems. It is still not perfect, but at least we know that Sun's engineers are making improvements.

Of course, I still need to find time to actually work on upgrading NeoJ to OOo 1.1...
