While not ignoring the potential snags of a number of people working in this area, can I just take time out to say, bloody lovely work, guys! Smile We are moving towards a real aqua look and consistency, and the look of this to me has it all over the OpenOffice.org look, be it in Crystal, Gnome [industrial] or whatever.

If there's any low-level stuff repetitive-type stuff I can do to help, let me know.

PS I think we need to continue to push Iconic, so that people can check out this look and get to see NeoOffice in the very best light.

Hi! Here's a partial list of pending-to-make icons (I haven't begun to sketch out any ideas of them) if you want to start working with some of these, making sure we're not duplicating effort:

Wow. Super-cool. Will these be the default in the Neo release?

No. We have the new Finder icons which are included in the Aqua Beta release, but the toolbar icon set is still a work in progress. Maybe we'll have new icons for Release Candidate or Final. This screenshot is very nice, but then these are not the only icons and many are missing; it is unlikely that we see the new icon set in Neo until it is complete (mixing old and new icons is not a very good idea).

VERY Nice - for the "templates and documents" window:

I like the Crayon.
How do these match up with the ones you previously did (Internet, Languages, etc)?

Question: should these be Neo specific for New Document, samples, etc?
Just asking to get a better feel for what the goal is: Best NeoOffice, better OpenOffice, etc. tanks

Philip ( amazed how much better icons enhance the User Experience Cool Very Happy )

Happy Aqua joy joy...

Preferences icons with shadows:

"Documents and Templates" window with Aqua icons, including icons for business cards and labels:

The other stuff in this window is all what I call "general interface iconography" which will be replaced by the Akua icon set.

Daniel Pimley

Hi Smokey,

Do you know the whereabouts of the "Templates and Documents" images in the images.zip archive? I'm assuming you do since you've replaced some of them already. Can you add them to http://neowiki.sixthcrusade.com/index.php/NeoOffice_Icon_Spec_Sheet?

Done.

AFAICT, you can't have separate icons for business cards and labels; they use the same small OTT icon as, well, the OTT (text template) files Sad

Can we get a brief bio from you for the NeoOffice 2.0 Press Kit?

Smokey

Thanks. I'll wait until opinion gathers on these icons (I understand the OOoCon is distracting a few people just now Smile ) and then if there are no negative opinions I'll package a new version of my Aqua Elements dmg. Then it's up to Ed and Patrick to use them or not...

I guess if I fiddle around with the business cards icon I can make it look like a selection of "alternative" printing materials - business cards, labels or whatever - then we could use it for both.

Born and bred and living in London, Great Britain. In real life I'm a video editor and multimedia producer, working in internal communications for an investment bank. I've been fiddling with computers since I fell in love with my Amiga 500 many years ago. Nowadays I dabble in Mac programming, design and computer art as a hobby, as can be seen from my website.

Now that I've got the build to handle yours and Smokey's released packages, dropping in a newer version should be trivial. The one thing that needs to be done, however, is make sure that you have ownership of the work and, if you don't have complete ownership, give proper attribution so that we can be sure that the work is GPL compatible. Other than the licensing concerns, there shouldn't be any issues.

Sad I phrased that poorly earlier. What I meant is that there's one icon file that is used for Text Template (all over the UI), the business cards, and the labels. So any changes would affect all three (and mess up Text Template) Sad

This from the same people who bring you 10 identical copies of some of the icons....

All rights reserved. Obviously if someone with bags of money or a really interesting idea wanted to use them then I'd be open to negotiation... Wink
