NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 Patch 1 has been out for a whole month now.

Is development almost (gasp) complete?

Development is never "complete". If you are looking for perfect software, no such thing exists. Even Microsoft Office (which MS spends tens of millions of dollars per year to test their products before release) still has bugs.

Development is an ever moving target. OpenOffice.org is always releasing updates and Apple is always releasing updates. This creates new bugs that we fix, we release patches, and then the cycle starts over.

Many bugs have been fixed recently and there are already test patches cycling the rounds. Like Patrick said, development will never be complete. Just check BZ for all the stuff we have yet to do Wink

The NeoOffice Grand European Tour took about 2 weeks out of the bug fixing time, so pretend that only about two weeks have passed since Patch-1 and that a patch fixing over a dozen bugs is about to be released Wink (hopefully there's less pretending on that last part, but I can't read Patrick's mind Smile)

It looks like this has been one of the widest releases ever for Neo, judging by the numbers of bugs reported and the number of new email addresses filing bugs Smile This is a good thing in that more issues will be fixed (or hopefully forwarded on to OOo and fixed there, where appropriate), but it also means that Patrick and Ed have a *lot* more work on their plates....

FYI. We've had about 350,000 downloads of Neo 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 in the last three weeks. That is double of our normal monthly downloads.

Well, then, let me compliment you on the runaway success of NeoOffice since you released the 2.0 Aqua candidates. It's great to see so much activity, bug reports and all.

That is because the grey buttons are gone now, and so the "hard-core-mac-freaks", who would never use a non-aqua-software, are able to use it now. Very Happy Razz

Actually, although I've been with you guys for years, what got me excited about 2.0 Aqua was the fact that it now uses the Mac OS X standard Open and Save dialog boxes. I'm heavily dependent on the Default Folder X application, which extends and adds a great deal of functionality to standard Mac Open and Save dialog boxes. So 2.0 Aqua (Alpha and Beta) now work fine with Default Folder X.
