Install of X11 and OpenOffice.org went well and created web pages and saved them just fine. But on closing I end up at a Grey Screen Full Size and there's no way to return to the eMac Desktop without a cold power down.
Does anyone else have this problem?
The terminal dialogue box closes but the same Grey Screen that appears at startup won't Quit.

Are you using XFree86 or Apple X11 in "Full Screen" mode? In these modes X11 will take over your entire screen. The default background is a "hatched" grey background, and your cursor will most likely be an X.
This mode doesn't take over your computer, but rather requires you to switch between the X11 screen and your regular Mac OS X display. This is similar to using Virtual PC in full screen mode.
If you're using XDarwin/XFree86 in full screen mode I believe the keystroke to switch between the environments is Command-Option-A. If you're viewing OS X windows and want to get back to X11, just click the XDarwin icon in the Dock (the red funky X).
