I thought NeoLight was available under the LGPL. The source files seem to be released under the LGPL 2.1.

But when browsing CVSWeb (http://trinity.neooffice.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/), the LICENSE file is a copy of the LGPL, and has the comment Place all files under the GPL license exclusively. This is allowed via term 3 ...

The license file is placed above the NeoLight directory.

This is confusing ...

Sorry, I meant the LICENSE file is a copy of the GPL ...

That license file is a relic of the old Neo/C source (NeoLight and Neo/J were actually subdirectories in the Neo/C source tree); if you look at individual NeoLight source files, you'll see the license block is LGPL.

However, it might be helpful if the NeoLight directory contained its own LICENSE file.

NeoLight is LGPL licensed.

The LICENSE file in the root of the repository covers all files *except* those which have been explicitly relicensed. It covers all files which have no explicit license agreement.

If you look at those NeoLight importer files, they should have an LGPL header, not a GPL header.

Unless there is a documented and intentional claim by a copyright holder, we license all our work under GPL only.

The Spotlight plugin must be LGPL as it is loaded into the address space of another non-GPL application (Apple's spotlight mdimport server). By making it LGPL we ensure our users continue to legally comply with their EULA licensing agreements with Apple.

If I could, I'd GPL it in a heartbeat, but that would make it illegal for anyone to use the plugin even though I published its source.
