Terry

What is the emoticon for slapping one's forehead and saying « Stupid!!!!»?

(1) I meant to say Quit.

(2) rm ~/.sversionrc solved the new problem

PostPosted: Mon Jun 28, 2004 5:02 am    Post subject: Installer problem

Hello,

The Zero G installer doesn't go beyond Utility.scpt. I copied all the files to a folder on my desktop because I had to edit the info.plist from the installer, Because it crashed all the time (I always need to add JVMVersion 1.4+ to the info.plist (not the first info.plist but a level lower (MacOSX/Install_OpenOffice.org1.1.2/Contents/Resources/Install_OpenOffice.org1.1.2/Contents/Info.plist) ) of the zero G installer before it works.)

How do I have to continue the installation?

Thnx,

Sjmielh

Did you try running the installer from a newly created user account? I'm actually not sure if forcing the installer to use the 1.4 VM instead of the 1.3 VM will help the situation...last time I ran it using the 1.4 VM bad things happened.

Do you have the crashlog? If so I can try to forward it along to ZeroG. Of course, we didn't write the actual installer code itself, so aside from the workarounds we've found, we can't really do too much Shocked.

New problem (?feature) - Each time I close, then run, Start OpenOffice.org it asks me for the installation directory. I have set the preferences and this activity still takes place.

My guess is that you didn't edit or remove your .sversionrc file; the TPs used a different path structure in there, too.

Since there's an existing entry for 1.1.2, OOo/Start OOo can't write the current OOo1.1.2 location to the file; Start OOo reads the file, sees the existing location is not valid, and prompts you for the new OOo location..but can't write it due to the existing (bad) 1.1.2 entry from the TP.

Doing what Terry asks will confirm this is the problem.

[Edit: Oops, missed your post above where you solved it.]

Smokey

Well it works for me. But it's not a problem 1.3 >< 1.4 because I also used JVMVersion 1.3+ and this has the same problem as 1.4.

I have a crashlog Where do I send the crashlog to?

Feel free to e-mail it to me (OPENSTEP at neooffice.org) or send it as a private message. I'll scour through it for any insight and try to forward it along to the appropriate folks at zerog.

Some users have also reported crashes in the VM when using non-US English localizations, even just for currency and date formatting. I'm unsure if this might be related to your problems.
