Firstly, great OO implementation!!
I don't install OOo anymore...

I have read several views on the "app closes after last window" problem... I was just wondering, wouldn't it be possible to leave NeoOffice/J open even though all the memory/files have been closed for OO?

This would at least save a little time on document opens surely... And mean that NeoOffice/J behaved more like people expect it to - even if it is just a java shell once all OO windows close.

What do you think?

I'm with you for this request.

You probably have already found and read other posts about tricks to do it.

My own favorite is to keep a minimized help window to avoid quitting inadvertently. A manual step though.

I don't think anyone's particularly against this feature Smile

Beyond the technical issues, which I'm sure are many Smile, how would one create a new document/open a new window if the "OOo part" is gone and only the "NeoJ part" is left?

The bad news is that making NeoJ stay open after the last window is closed is no easy task so it is not likely that I will have time to do this until after NeoJ is ungraded to use the OOo 1.1 codebase.

The good news is that OOo 1.1 starts much faster than the OOo 1.0.3 code so, once I move NeoJ to the OOo 1.1 codebase, restarting NeoJ won't be so painful.

To give you an idea of how much faster startup time will be, a restart of my development build of NeoJ using the OOo 1.1 codebase takes only 6 seconds for the splash screen to appear and only 16 seconds for the default window to be fully painted. This is on my G4 450 MHz PowerMac.

Should a bug be raised on this "issue"?

It seems to be fairly highly requested...

Laughing

Whether it is possible to implement at the moment is another issue all together... Shocked
