Hi, I've just successfully installed the 1.1.2 version on my Mac and am very happy with it so far. I'm just curious if anyone can tell me how to get OOo to use the Mac fonts?
Thanks

OOo can't use the Mac fonts directly since it's an X11 based application. In order to use fonts, you need to convert them with the fondu utility included with the installer. This will make the dfont files into ".ttf" files that you can then drop into the share/fonts/truetype directory of OOo to use the font.
You can also drag-and-drop your dfont files onto the Start OpenOffice.org application to perform the conversion.
Note that not all Mac fonts can be successfully used with OOo, particularly foreign language fonts.

Can I just copy my true type fonts from my XP desktop into that directory? Or is that bad or illegal? |

It should be able to work directly with your XP TrueType fonts. If you just copy those "ttf" files from the XP box into that share/fonts/truetype directory then things will be good.
You will also need to remove the file share/psprint/pspfontcache before the next time you launch OOo. If you don't remove it, then it won't regenerate its font cache and you'll be able to use the fonts but they won't be rendered properly on the screen.
